Teething

What can I expect with teething?

Think fussy! Teething—when those first little baby teeth break through the gums— can be a terrible time for babies and their parents.

Teething usually begins between 6 and 8 months old. However, some children don’t show any teeth until much later than 8 months. But this is normal too.

What are signs of teething?

Your baby may bite on his fingers or toys to help relieve the pressure in his gums. A teething baby also may cry at night, refuse to eat and drink, and appear to be drooling a lot. It’s understandable that he’s fussy. His first teeth must push and cut through the gum tissue which causes some tenderness and soreness.

Teething may keep you up nights, but it’s usually nothing to worry about. Call your doctor if your baby’s symptoms are severe or don’t get better.

How is teething treated?

Giving baby something safe to chew on, such as a teething ring, helps satisfy his urge to push the teeth through the gum tissue. To help relieve pain and discomfort, you can give him something else safe—Gentle Naturals® Homeopathic Teething Drops.
